New user onboarding
A new employee needs more than an email address, and the setup has a lead time nobody plans for.A new employee needs more than an email address
Onboarding done well connects the person to the right device, identity, licence, files, applications, security controls and outside services, without handing over access nobody meant to give them.
Information that may be needed
- Employee name and role.
- Start date.
- Manager or approval owner.
- Required device and accessories.
- Microsoft 365 licence.
- Email, Teams and file access.
- Business applications.
- Shared mailboxes or calendars.
- Security and MFA requirements.
- Remote-work needs.
- Relevant vendor access.
Prepare the whole setup before the start date
Once the approvals, licences, information and lead time are in place, we prepare the authorised account, the device and the in-scope access.
Late or incomplete requests push the setup back, particularly when equipment has to be ordered, a licence has to be bought or an outside vendor has to issue a login.
Plan the whole arrival
It works best when you've confirmed what the person needs before their start date, and named who can approve access when a question comes up.
