Cannot reach the server
The server might be down. It is just as likely that something between you and it is.The server might be down. It's just as likely that something between you and the server is. Connectivity, VPN, permissions, identity, storage and power all sit in that path, and from the error message alone they look much the same.
What you may notice
- A shared drive is missing.
- Several users receive the same error.
- Access works inside the office but not remotely.
- The server responds slowly or intermittently.
- One user is denied while others can connect.
Trace the path from your desk to the server
We check whether the problem sits with the server, the network, the account, permissions, storage or connectivity beyond your office. If several people are affected, report it promptly (clients through your usual support contact, everyone else by phone).
Try not to keep restarting critical infrastructure before someone understands the current state and what a restart would interrupt.
